Job Description

Dobbs Defense Solutions is seeking a Release Manager to join our team. The manager will oversee the promotion of implementation code to multiple testing and production environments throughout the software development lifecycle. They will collaborate with development and quality teams to implement and improve our build/test environment and related processes.

Duties

• Design and implement a reliable build/test automation framework.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with Development and Quality teams.
• Manage the process for releasing builds into QA, including scheduling and release notes.
• Handle the release process for software to customers, including patches and maintenance releases.
• Maintain and manage release and development branches within the code repository to ensure consistency.
• Determine appropriate timing for release branches and establish related policies and best practices.
• Understand software development life cycles and have hands-on knowledge of lab and IT infrastructure. Familiarity with distributed systems, networking, multithreading, and enterprise storage is a plus.
• Enforce acceptance criteria for turnover packages, including code and documentation.
• Schedule and notify stakeholders of releases.
• Support off-hours software releases.
• Contribute to evolving configuration management policies and procedures.
• Communicate configuration management methodologies to development staff.
• Troubleshoot software issues across environments.
• Review system and machine logs regularly.

Qualifications

Required education and experience:

• Proven experience in a release management role supporting an enterprise IT program.
• Experience managing, planning, and scheduling IT service rollouts, updates, and releases to production.
