Job summary

DND Staffing LLC is seeking a qualified engineer to join a direct-hire, permanent role with a hybrid schedule and a Pension Plan. You will contribute to redesigning Protection and Control (P&C) systems and help deliver cutting-edge electric grid reliability initiatives.

You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop, test, implement, and maintain P&C standards, perform analyses, and support the deployment of protection upgrades.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with at least 4 years of engineering experience.
  • Minimum two years of relay protection or control systems engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with relay protection software and hardware platforms.
  • Ability to write engineering specifications and standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop, test, implement, and maintain P&C system standards.
  • Research industry best practices and emerging technologies to support continuous improvement of P&C standards.
  • Perform engineering analyses, evaluate new hardware and software solutions, and support protection system upgrade deployments.
  • Support PRSI department efforts by implementing strategies to improve P&C design, operation, and reliability.
  • Provide technical support for protection system asset management and remote monitoring and analytics of substation P&C devices.
  • Oversee vendor activities and conduct technical reviews to ensure contractor work meets engineering standards.
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders to implement relay protection standards and manage expectations.

Core Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop, test, implement, and maintain protection and control (P&C) system standards, including philosophy documents, relay setting guides, templates, drawings, and test procedures.
  • Research industry best practices and emerging technologies to support continuous improvement of established P&C standards.
  • Perform engineering analyses, evaluate new hardware and software solutions, and support the deployment of protection system upgrade initiatives.
  • Support PRSI department efforts by implementing new strategies, initiatives, and processes to enhance the design, operation, and reliability of P&C systems.
  • Provide technical support protection system asset management and remote monitoring and analytics of substation P&C devices.
  • Oversee vendor activities and perform technical reviews to ensure contractor work meets engineering standards and departmental requirements.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to implement relay protection standards, obtain feedback, and manage expectations.
Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 4 years of engineering work experience. A minimum of two years of relevant experience in relay protection and/or control systems engineering disciplines, required. or
