Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory including microprocessors relaying and phasor circuits.
• Math training and ability to perform calculations relevant to protection devices.
• Must be able to become qualified to perform switching within 90 days; training path for progression to Relay Electrician II.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, adjust, calibrate, repair and install distribution level protection and control equipment.
• Certify related wiring and perform in-service checks.
• Perform tests on electromechanical and microprocessor relays and upload data to central database.
• Engage in on-the-job training to learn new systems and methods.
• Progress from Relay Electrician I to II by proving skills and passing a proficiency exam within two years.
