Job summary

SmartBank is seeking a Relationship Manager to cultivate high‑touch client relationships and drive business growth across the Southeast. The role emphasizes upholding SmartBank’s purpose and core values while delivering tailored financial solutions.

The position requires a strong background in banking or sales lending, with a focus on credit decisions, profitability, and customer service excellence. On-site work in the Pensacola area is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or management preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of banking or sales lending field experience.
• RMA – Credit Risk Certification preferred.
• Graduate School of Banking or TBA Lending Schools – Commercial Lending preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uphold SmartBank’s core values and purpose.
• Develop new customer prospects and generate business for the institution.
• Complete each loan application and all pre‑processing functions in a timely manner.
• Gather financial and business information, perform analyses required for credit decisions, participate in team credit decisions, and communicate with prospects and customers to close sales.
• Screen loan requests based on institutional policies and loan types offered.
• Order appraisals, credit reports, background checks, reference checks, and other required information for loan applicants.
• Monitor overall profitability of relationships and negotiate terms, fees, and structures benefiting both the client and SmartBank.
• Evaluate potential customer loan requests and make recommendations to management.
• Review new laws and regulations influencing lending, recommend actions to management when necessary.
• Communicate approvals or denials to borrowers.
• Promote and participate in Special Credit Programs and CRA initiatives
