Overview
Relationship Bankers are responsible for identifying customer needs and matching them with the appropriate bank products and services to enhance customer satisfaction, loyalty, and financial well-being. They utilize proactive sales and service efforts, recognize referral opportunities, and deepen customer relationships while processing various cash and non-cash transactions.
Responsibilities
- Identify customer needs and make appropriate referrals through proactive sales and service efforts.
- Service, sell, and cross-sell deposit accounts, loan products, insurance products, cash management services, etc.
- Deliver exceptional customer experience following Trustmark’s service standards.
- Safeguard the bank’s assets and security while processing transactions accurately.
- Balance cash drawer daily and ensure proper documentation.
- Achieve sales and referral goals quarterly, transforming service into sales opportunities.
- Make outreach calls to customers and prospects.
- Comply with bank policies, procedures, and standards of performance.
- Coach and mentor fellow Relationship Bankers and Tellers.
- Review and approve transactions such as night drop logs, ATM deposits, collection items, etc.
- Handle cash shipments and vault management.
- Originate consumer loans.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 2 years of face-to-face customer service, retail sales, or prior Trustmark Relationship Banker experience with a proven track record of exceeding performance goals.
- Ability to learn Trustmark’s lending guidelines and process loans within 2 years.
- Registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
- Basic math skills and ability to handle routine transactions and cash drawer.
- Exceptional customer service skills and product knowledge.
- Pass customer service and math assessments.
- Ability to meet sales goals in a retail environment.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn internal systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management and attention to detail.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
Preferred
- Prior supervisory experience in retail or banking.
- Experience processing consumer or mortgage loans.
- Knowledge of banking industry specifics related to the Relationship Banker role.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods, operate a computer, and lift at least 20 pounds.
