Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC, a leading specialist insurer, is seeking a Reinsurance Analyst in Houston with 2+ years in accounting/finance. Under supervision, you’ll maintain general ledgers, prepare management reports for facultative, treaty, and excess of loss programs, and reconcile reinsurer balances.

You’ll also assist with statutory filings and input reinsurance terms into our financial system for multiple departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent.
  • Two years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • CPA designation preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare general ledger entries and reconcile sub-ledgers.
  • Compile reports on facultative, treaty, and excess of loss reinsurance.
  • Reconcile reinsurer balances to ledgers.
  • Input and interpret reinsurance agreements in the financial system for cross‑department use.
  • Assist in quarterly/annual statutory filings (consolidated and entity level).
  • Support management with data for commutations and liquidations.
  • Review invoices from banks for related fees and respond to reinsurer inquiries.

Always Advancing, we embrace an entrepreneurial spirit; as Experts in Tomorrow, we anticipate what’s next; and by Reaching Out, we build genuine connections that enable our people and our business to thrive.Role OverviewUnder supervision, this role is responsible for moderately complex accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant managerial reports and financial statements for Reinsurance Accounting.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare general ledger entries and assist in the reconciliation of the sub-ledger to the general ledger.Compile and analyze financial information to prepare various reports for management, including but not limited to those regarding facultative, treaty, and excess of loss coverage for reinsurance programs.Reconcile re-insurer balances to the general ledger and sub ledgers.Interpret and input reinsurance agreements into the financial system for use by Underwriting, Claims, and Accounting departments.Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory filings on both a consolidated and company basis.Prepare internal summaries of assumed and ceded business.
