Job summary

PACS is seeking a Reimbursement Accounting Analyst in Utah to prepare cost report schedules for Medicare and Medicaid filings. You will support audits, analyze costs, and ensure accurate cost center recording, requiring strong Excel skills and independent work habits.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost report data for Medicare/Medicaid filings.
• Validate schedules and documentation for compliance of cost reports.
• Analyze accounts to ensure costs are in correct cost centers.
• Respond to auditors with required invoices, journals, and backups.
• Coordinate with managers and facility staff on cost report documentation.
• Assist with bad debt analysis for reimbursement and audits.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts related to cost reporting.
• Work independently and meet filing deadlines.

Job Description

The Reimbursement Accounting Analyst is responsible for preparing cost report schedules for filing, providing audit support, and responding to cost reporting inquiries. This role involves performing detailed analysis of costs and accounts to ensure proper costs are recorded in the correct cost centers. The ideal candidate should possess a strong accounting background, be organized, and be able to work independently. Strong Excel skills are preferred, and the ability to work under pressure and perform many routine tasks is essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize financial, operational, and statistical data required for Medicare and Medicaid cost report filings
• Compile, validate, and maintain supporting schedules and documentation to ensure completion of accurate and compliant cost report submissions
• Perform detailed analysis of accounts to ensure proper costs are recorded in the correct cost centers
• Respond to cost report audits by providing all documentation requested by the auditor, including invoices, journal entry backup, and other items as requested
• Communicate with managers, coworkers, and facility personnel regarding documentation for cost reports and audits
• Assist with Medicare/Medicaid bad debt analysis for accounting, cost reporting, and audit purposes
• Reconcile general ledger accounts associated with cost reporting
• Work independently and be deadline-oriented to complete assignments and meet required deadlines for filing cost reports and responding to auditors

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree, preferred in Finance, Accounting, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience, including 3-5 years of relevant reimbursement, finance, or accounting experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel and Copilot enabled productivity tools
• Workday experience desired
• Strong accounting background
• Knowledge of reimbursement policies and procedures preferred
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and under pressure
