Job summary

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital South is seeking a Rehabilitation Technician to support inpatient therapy services within a joint Lifepoint Health operation. The role reports to the Occupational Therapist and, under supervision, provides modalities and treatment per the plan to restore function and prevent disability.

Responsibilities include patient transport and prep, equipment upkeep, and coordinating therapy supplies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• CPR/BCLS certification required.
• Minimum six months experience in an acute or long-term facility preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

• Transport, lift, transfer, and reposition patients in the patient room, Therapy Gym and other common areas of the hospital.
• Prepare patient for prescribed treatment and assist professional staff with patient treatment.
• Prepare, clean and maintain treatment areas and equipment.
• Procure and keep an accurate inventory of all therapy supplies.
• Performs routine clerical tasks for Therapy Department.
• Other duties as assigned.

How You'll Contribute

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant functions under the direct supervision of the Occupational Therapist and as directed by a licensed physician, is responsible for a specific patient's care. The COTA assumes responsibility and accountability for providing occupational therapy modalities and treatment procedures as determined by a treatment plan established by an Occupational Therapist in order to restore function and prevent disability following patient illness or injury. The COTA carries out these responsibilities in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies while maintaining the highest degree of quality patient care. Other responsibilities of the role include:

• Ability to Transport, lift, transfer, move and reposition patients in the patient room, Therapy Gym and other common areas of the hospital.
• Prepares patient for prescribed treatment and assists professional staff with patient treatment.
