Job Summary: The Rehabilitation Technician-1 assists each discipline in rehabilitation (physical therapy, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, speech pathology) by performing specific non-patient care tasks to promote smooth and efficient operations. Services are provided for both Inpatient and Outpatient Rehabilitation departments. The role requires flexibility and excellent communication skills. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Currently enrolled in a program offered by the School of Allied Health Professionals (e.g., Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing) or have at least one year of recent healthcare experience in rehabilitation nursing or therapy services (e.g., PT, OT, Speech Pathology, Recreational Therapy) preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Ability to manipulate wheelchair components and repair minor equipment issues. Effective communication skills with patients, families, staff, and visitors. Ability to work collaboratively within a team. Recognize safety issues and implement appropriate corrections. Proficient in reading, writing legibly, and speaking English (Spanish preferred). Skilled in using computers and relevant software, troubleshooting, and calibrating patient care equipment. Ability to relate positively and professionally, enforce policies consistently, remain calm under pressure, and work independently. Capable of critical thinking, multitasking, problem-solving, organizing, and prioritizing workload. Sensory abilities include distinguishing colors, smells, sounds, and temperature variances as needed for patient care.
