Stars Behavioral Health Group seeks a Rehabilitation Aide to support adolescent clients at Star View Adolescent Center in Torrance, CA. The role focuses on leading activity and rehabilitation groups and ensuring safety under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required or equivalent.
• AA or BA preferred for advancement.
• Two years residential childcare or inpatient psychiatric experience preferred.
• Facilitating Groups experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Rehabilitation Aide provides direct service to adolescents in activity and rehabilitation groups.
• Plan and conduct large and small groups and outings under supervision.
• Maintain inventory and equipment; communicate needs to supervisors.
• Document attendance and responses in medical records or forms.
• Ensure resident safety and monitor physical/psychiatric conditions.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and promote resident participation.

How you will make a difference (job overview):

Rehabilitation Aide assists the professional rehabilitation staff by providing direct service to adolescents in implementing activity and rehabilitation groups. Plans and conducts both large and small activity groups and outings independently but under the indirect or direct supervision of the Director, coordinator, Rehab Therapist, or their designee. Assists with maintaining inventory and equipment by inspecting equipment and supply levels and then communicating needs to the Director, Coordinator or Therapist. Document in writing each adolescent’s attendance and response to activity and therapeutic groups in the individual medical record or on department forms. Maintain visual awareness of adolescents physical and psychiatric limitations and ensures the safety of residents at all times. Participate in treatment team meetings and maximize resident participation through appropriate motivational techniques.

Division & Program Overview:

• Population Served: A comprehensive mental health in patient residential facility for adolescents; Statewide service for up to 60 adolescents (ages 12–17) experiencing severe mental health challenges.
• Facility & Setting: 24/7 locked, highly secure inpatient residential campus operating with the highest standards of dignity and care since 1988.
• Programs: Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF), Community Treatment Facility (CTF), and an on-site Non-Public High School (SBHS).
• Clinical Services: Multidisciplinary mental health services, Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS), and Intensive Day Treatment Program.
