Job summary

SSM Health Rehabilitation Hospital-Oklahoma City is seeking a Rehabilitation Therapy Extern (OT or PT student) in Oklahoma City, OK. This per diem externship supports hands-on patient care under licensed therapists and includes participation in lectures and mentoring as part of an extensive orientation.

The role requires current enrollment in a physical, occupational, speech, or assistant therapy program and certification in BLS (or completion within 90 days).

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a physical, occupational, speech or assistant therapy academic program.
• Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of a therapist, the extern assists patients in the rehabilitation process through provision of requested activities and prepares/maintains equipment and the environment for daily activities.
• Attends educational lectures and training formats; participates in mentoring programs; completes annual competencies.
• Performs patient-related tasks such as assisting with transferring patients, transporting patients, assisting with equipment setup and patient positioning, and participating in dysphagia and feeding programs.
• Keeps department and equipment clean and disinfected according to infection control policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
