This job works under the direct on-premises supervision of a licensed physical or occupational therapist and, according to detailed instructions, policies, and procedures, provides therapeutic modality treatments as assigned, prepares therapy areas and patients for treatments, and transports patients using wheelchairs and stretchers. Maintains all equipment and environment to ensure they are clean, operable, and safe. Performs isolation techniques as outlined in Infection Control policy.

Education
  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Some college coursework in Healthcare Sciences
Work Experience
  • Required: None
  • Preferred: 5 years relevant experience or pursuing an education in a clinical program
Certifications
  • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of required job information.
  • Proficiency with Windows applications, keyboard, and role-specific software packages.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to travel throughout and between facilities.
Job Duties
  • Prepare and maintain the work area for treatment, including ordering supplies, linen, and pharmaceuticals.
  • Orient and mentor new staff in the needs of the assigned area.
  • Monitor and assist in patient care as instructed by the therapist, according to their competencies.
  • Assist with general office and front desk procedures.
  • Transport patients to and from the department or room via wheelchair or stretcher, as directed, in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy, introducing oneself appropriately, explaining services or procedures, requesting permissions, and communicating effectively.
  • Other related duties as required.

Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
