Position Summary:

Sovah Health is looking for the ideal candidate will assist the Physical Therapists implement programs established in the department by performing assigned tasks related to patient care under the immediate direction of a licensed therapist or assistant. This includes upkeep of the department, clerical duties, patient transport, and patient care.

· Administers hydrotherapy treatment, hot and cold packs according to written medical prescription and under the direction of physical therapist.

· Assists patients in dressing and moving about before, during and at the conclusion of their treatment.

· Assists patients in safe practice of activities related to the development of strength, endurance and daily living.

· Assists with ambulation practice of specific patients whose gait patterns have been precisely established by a physical therapist.

· Transports patients in a courteous and efficient manner with sensitivity regarding the patient’s problems and dignity.

· Assist in checking clients’ vital signs when needed.

· Provides client/caregiver education re: facilitation of functional mobility and communication.

· Assists in donning/doffing and manipulating assistive devices, prosthetics, orthotics, splints, and ADL equipment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

HeartSaver CPR X American Heart Association required

Two (2) years of previous experience in patient care setting required
