General Summary of Position

Medstar Health is looking for a Rehabilitation Technician to join our team! We seek someone skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, the medical and professional staff, and the public. The Rehabilitation Technician will perform various functions to assist the professional staff in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. Under the direct supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT), Physical Therapist (PT), or Speech Pathologist (SLP), the technician aids patients with therapeutic exercises and activities. Upon successful completion of departmental competencies, they may perform functions independently, such as patient transportation and program setup, in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and hospital standards. Primary Duties
  1. Aid patients in practicing functional exercises and activities as directed by OT, PT, and SLP; including exercises, gait/stair/transfer practice, and use of equipment like pulleys, weights, and tilt-tables.
  2. Check vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation during activities, as directed.
  3. Guide patients in the care and use of ambulatory devices like crutches, walkers, slings, braces, and orthotics.
  4. Assist OT with Activities of Daily Living treatments using appropriate adaptive equipment.
  5. Assist in bedside treatments, including positioning, handling, and stabilizing patients.
  6. Support PT with wound care treatments, including preparation, cleanup, dressing application, and patient transfers.
  7. Transport patients and equipment to and from the department, assist in patient preparation for transport, and organize treatment areas and supplies.
  8. Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, ensuring all logs are up to date.
  9. Promote and adhere to all C2C standards and hospital policies.
  10. Perform other duties as appropriate to the position and area.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Basic knowledge of exercise programs; experience with a variety of patients is preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in medical science or exercise science is preferred.

This position has a hiring range of $18.33 - $31.61.
