Description
The Rehabilitation Technician reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities:
- Performs clerical, general, and patient care support functions within a Rehab department, under the supervision of the Ortho and Rehab Services Department Leader.
- Assists licensed clinicians with implementing treatment plans under their guidance.
- Ensures the environment of care is clean and organized, supporting services provided by various therapists and specialists.
- Assists with patient care under the direction of licensed therapists.
- Supports community re-entry activities as per the established care plan.
- Transports/escorts patients between nursing and Rehab Department.
- Performs regular cleaning, restocks supplies, and maintains equipment and treatment areas.
- Monitors equipment temperatures as per policy.
- Handles clerical duties such as mail, typing, faxing, photocopying, filing, and medical record processing.
- Answers phones, schedules outpatient appointments, and maintains the therapy schedule; provides backup reception coverage.
- Tracks and verifies daily charges in the computer system.
- Orders supplies and manages inventory as directed.
- Maintains competency through ongoing education and participation in departmental and organizational learning opportunities.
- Provides patient care in accordance with policies, procedures, and clinical competency guidelines, considering patient age and needs.
- Maintains accurate documentation.
- Considers patients' cultural, psychosocial, ethnic, and religious needs, adjusting interventions accordingly.
- Maintains professionalism and communicates effectively to support customer satisfaction and service excellence.
- Participates in team and interdisciplinary meetings to ensure coordinated care.
- Serves primarily young/middle-aged and older adults, with secondary populations including pediatrics and adolescents.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, or currently pursuing one
- CPR certification required within a designated timeframe
- Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the role
Preferred:
- Experience in healthcare or rehabilitation settings
- Familiarity with healthcare environments
