You will partner with leadership, international engineering teams, operators, customers, and regulators to ensure safe, compliant, and scalable operations as the company grows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years in aviation operations, aviation safety, UAS operations, or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA and FCC regulatory requirements for large UAS operations, including BVLOS.
  • Experience in regulated environments with procedural oversight and compliance accountability.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into scalable operational processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead regulatory strategy, certification activities, and agency coordination.
  • Oversee FAA certifications, approvals, waivers, and ongoing compliance.
  • Support FCC and NDAA sourcing compliance related to communications and systems.

Regulatory & Operational Safety Leader

Location: Fargo, ND

Position Overview

GroWings Robotx North America is seeking a Regulatory & Operational Safety Leader to support the safe development, regulatory compliance, and commercialization of large autonomous aerial application systems within agriculture.

This role serves as the company's primary resource for aviation regulatory compliance, operational safety, agricultural compliance, and certification activities across North America. The position will partner closely with leadership, Israel-based engineering teams, operational partners, customers, and regulatory agencies to help ensure operations remain safe, compliant, and scalable as the company grows.

This is a unique opportunity to help build the regulatory and operational foundation for a next-generation autonomous aviation company. You'll work at the intersection of aviation, agriculture, engineering, and commercialization, helping bring new technology from development into real-world operations.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory & Certification Leadership
  • Lead regulatory strategy, certification activities, and external agency coordination
  • Lead FAA certification efforts, approvals, waivers, and ongoing compliance activities
  • Support FCC and NDAA sourcing compliance requirements related to communications and operational systems
  • Monitor evolving aviation, UAS, and agricultural regulatory requirements impacting operations
  • Support additional operational, regulatory, and commercialization initiatives as needed
Training, Documentation & Customer Enablement
  • Support development and maintenance of operating manuals, SOPs, and compliance documentation
  • Assist with training programs, operator guidance, and FAA operator certification support
  • Translate regulatory requirements into scalable operational processes and procedures
  • Support customer operational readiness, recordkeeping, and compliance documentation efforts
Operational Compliance & Safety
  • Support development and maintenance of operational safety and compliance programs
  • Assist with Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives, operational risk management, and compliance oversight
  • Conduct compliance reviews, operational assessments, and ongoing FAA compliance maintenance activities
  • Identify operational risks and support corrective actions and mitigation strategies
Agricultural & Pesticide Compliance
  • Serve as the company's SME for agricultural, aerial application, and pesticide compliance requirements by coordinating with USDA and state departments of agriculture
  • Support compliance related to restricted-use pesticide operations, applicator requirements, and state-level Pesticide Use Reporting (PUR)requirements
  • Provide operational guidance related to field-use compliance and agricultural best practice
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Aerospace, Engineering, Safety, Agriculture, Regulatory Compliance, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in aviation operations, aviation safety, UAS operations, aerospace, agricultural aviation, or related industries
  • Strong and proven expertise navigating FAA and FCC regulatory requirements affecting large UAS operations, including BVLOS operations (such as Exemption 44807), telemetry and RF communication systems, NAS integration, and the support of FAA approvals, waivers, certifications, and operational compliance initiatives.
  • Experience working in regulated operational environments with procedural oversight and compliance accountability
  • Experience supporting operational procedures, manuals, safety programs, or compliance initiatives with hands on experience.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability and creativity to balance regulatory rigor with practical operational realities in a fast-paced startup environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in agricultural aviation, aerial application, crop protection, or ag-tech environments including Part 137
  • Familiarity with pesticide use reporting (PURs), restricted-use pesticide compliance, and state agricultural regulations
  • Experience with BVLOS operations, UAS test sites, or autonomous aviation technologies and familiarity with the NPRM of Part 108
  • Experience working with Safety Management Systems (SMS)
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Airspace System (NAS)
