Job summary

Xcel Energy Inc. is offering an internship with the Regulatory Administration team focused on policy, cost recovery, and rulemaking to support PUC approvals and customer outcomes.

The intern will project manage or support projects, conduct research, handle oral and written communications, and assist with compliance and reporting while looking for process improvements. The 2 available positions start May 31, 2027, with potential extension based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

  • Must be a current student pursuing a degree in Business, English, Economics, Public Policy, Environmental, etc.
  • Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) or part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commute to the designated work location in-person per hybrid policy.
  • Preferred qualifications include research, writing, financial, project management experience/coursework, and MS Office/AI tools.

This experience will assist the Regulatory Administration team on various policy, cost recovery, and rulemaking proceedings to ensure Public Utilities Commission approval and positive outcomes for the Company and its customers. The experience will enable an intern to project manage and/or support a project(s) that will allow the Company to meet its cost recovery or policy objectives. The successful intern will research, project manage, work on oral and written communications, work on compliance items or reporting, and look for ways to improve processes. The PSCo regulatory team has 2 available positions.

Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

This position is for a May 31, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Current student, Junior or higher (as of Fall 2027)
  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Business, English, Economics, Public Policy, Environmental, etc.
  • Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Research, Writing, Financial, Project Management experience/coursework
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) AI, Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint
  • 12-month commitment

Non-BargainingThe anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $19.00 to $21.00 per hourThis position is eligible for the following benefits:
