Job description

Our client, a leading private equity firm with over $35 billion in AUM, seeks to hire a lawyer in New York. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in regulatory and compliance work for investment management clients, with some exposure to corporate transactional matters. This role involves collaborating closely with the legal team, business units, outside counsel, regulators, and counterparties. The firm offers a highly collaborative culture with low attrition, a hybrid work model (4 days in office, 1 remote), and relocation support.

Compensation:

  • Annual salary ranging from $200K to $300K, comprising a base salary of up to $200K plus a discretionary bonus of up to $100K.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage the firm’s U.S. compliance program, including SEC registration duties.
  • Oversee, administer, and document compliance efforts, including risk identification, monitoring, testing, and control enhancements.
  • Prepare documentation related to compliance activities.
  • Coordinate with legal and investor relations teams on external communications.
  • Lead regulatory reporting efforts, including Form ADV and PF.
  • Support corporate transactions, fund formation, and operational activities as needed.
Required Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor from a top accredited law school.
  • Admitted and in good standing with a state bar.
  • Minimum of three years’ relevant experience at a top law firm, in-house, or with a regulator, preferably at an AmLaw-ranked firm.
  • Deep knowledge of investment management law, compliance, and SEC regulations.
  • Experience managing compliance programs, including manuals, testing, and ethics codes.
  • Familiarity with marketing rules, corporate transactions, fund formation, and investor relations is a plus.
  • Strong judgment, interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Comfort working with cross-functional teams and attention to detail.
