Company Overview

Our client is a fast-growing, global fintech company on a mission to make digital money and financial services more accessible, transparent, and secure. With a strong presence in the U.S. and operations across the Americas, they are fully reserved, transparent, and committed to regulatory excellence. The company is in a transformative phase, evolving from a fast-paced startup into a more structured, compliance-forward organization.

Role Overview

We’re partnering with a leading digital finance platform to find a Regulatory Affairs Lead to join their U.S. team. This is a high-impact role focused on regulatory change management and licensing across the Americas. You’ll work closely with global stakeholders to ensure the business remains ahead of evolving regulatory landscapes, particularly in the U.S., Canada, and emerging LATAM markets.

This role reports directly to the VP, Regulatory Affairs in the UK, and plays a key part in shaping the company’s regulatory strategy and execution. It’s ideal for someone with a strong background in financial regulation—especially securities or payments—who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

  • Lead regulatory change management across the Americas, including horizon scanning, impact analysis, and internal advisory.
  • Manage applications for new regulatory authorizations and support license maintenance and renewals.
  • Develop and maintain regulatory frameworks, libraries, and reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Legal, Compliance, Finance, Engineering, etc.) to ensure regulatory obligations are met.
  • Act as a key liaison with regulators and industry bodies, helping shape policy positions and compliance strategies.
  • Provide backup coverage for existing U.S. licensing operations and contribute to business continuity planning.
  • Support regulatory examinations and ensure high-quality submissions and documentation.

Candidate Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in regulatory affairs, compliance, or legal roles within financial services (e.g., payments, banking, securities).
  • Strong understanding of U.S. money transmission regulations; familiarity with securities regulation is highly desirable.
  • Experience in crypto or fintech is a plus but not essential—openness to candidates from traditional finance backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into practical business processes.
  • Comfortable working with regulators and managing licensing processes.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to push back when needed.
  • A thoughtful, calm, and collaborative approach—able to thrive in a culture that values both agility and structure.

Benefits & Location

  • Salary: Competitive base up to $200K USD, depending on experience.
  • Bonus: Discretionary.
  • Equity Options
  • Location: Preference for candidates in or near New York (hybrid model: 2 days/week in office), but open to remote candidates across the U.S. with periodic travel (strong preference of East Coast).
  • Culture: Entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and evolving—ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, impact, and being part of a growing team. The company is on a journey toward greater structure and governance, offering a unique opportunity to help shape its future.
