ResponsibilitiesJob SummaryServe as the first point of contact for all customers, managing clerical and administrative duties within the department. Perform a variety of clerical, patient support, and data entry tasks related to telephone communication, registration, scheduling, and patient chart maintenance. Communicate with physicians’ offices as needed. Responsibilities may vary based on departmental needs.
Essential Functions- Greet and communicate with customers, answer calls, respond to voicemails, and direct information appropriately. Orient patients to the department and assist with imaging support duties such as retrieving images from PACS, maintaining patient workflow, and assisting with patient transport and documentation.
- Perform scheduling duties for procedures, including appointments, tracking no-shows, and communicating with physicians and staff.
- Handle registration tasks, gather patient information, create electronic records, obtain signatures, and coordinate authorizations and referrals. Complete daily data entry and scanning of registration documents.
- Obtain insurance authorizations, collect co-pays, process payments, and handle billing and deposits.
- Maintain patient charts in accordance with HIPAA, communicate with insurance and billing departments, and ensure proper documentation and forwarding of records.
- Monitor email daily, provide relevant information to supervisors, and maintain office supplies and inventory.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education- High School Diploma or GED - Required
Experience- Preferred: 1 year in healthcare or related field with knowledge of medical terminology, scheduling, or registration.
- Preferred: 2 years in healthcare, including scheduling and registration, or related experience such as Patient Access or Medical Imaging.
Licenses and Certifications- Fingerprint Clearance Card - Required. Must have or obtain within seven days of employment, especially for Pediatric Behavioral Health sites.
