- Performs clerical duties, including word processing, scanning, typing, Email correspondence, filing, creating new records, inputting data into the Meditech System.
- Answers telephone, provides information to callers, routes calls as appropriate, takes clear, concise messages and contacts appropriate staff in order to promote prompt and effective communication.
- Accurately schedules, pre-registers and registers Diabetes Education Services outpatient appointments with educator, either for one to one consultation or group classes.
- Obtains referrals for all participants and ensures referral is correctly completed prior to scheduling appointment.
- Provides assistance with mailings of correspondence, announcements, follow up letters to patients.
- Generates insurance estimates and provided insurance counseling to participants prior to initial appointment.
- Maintains and files confidential patient records within the Diabetes Education department. Accesses ECW system to obtain current information on the participant as needed.
- Using the current Meditech computer system, accurately enters all demographics, registers patients, inputs charges and reconciles charges for Diabetes Education Program services.
- Using current computer system orders supplies or equipment necessary for the departments operation.
- Coordinates department activities to assure patient flow is efficient.
- Greets participants and obtains necessary documents for registration.

Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent. Prior experience with clerical responsibilities or in healthcare field. Fluent in English required with reading and writing proficiency. Computer skills required.
