What You’ll Do
Register patients presenting to Northwest Medical Center, conduct patient interviews to obtain registration information, complete required forms and obtain signatures, initiate financial counseling, collect monies owed, verify insurance at point of service, calculate patient estimates, and serve as the focal point for initial communications.
Responsibilities
- Accurately obtain all required information to perform patient registration for all services.
- Engage with all areas of patient access: ED, Outpatient, Surgery, and Financial Counseling.
- Assist the supervisor with daily reports related to registration accuracy, identify trends, and offer solutions.
- Coordinate training and orientation documentation with supervisor direction.
- Maintain employee schedule with supervisor direction.
- Assist in candidate selection and peer interviews.
- Obtain authorizations and verifications for services and enter information into the system.
- Obtain accurate insurance information for billing purposes.
- Secure co‑payments for services rendered or to be rendered.
- Correctly collect payments and issue receipts.
- Complete all required data for financial services.
- Effectively communicate with customers and assist with inquiries.
- Meet production standards of collection goals for NWMC.
- Refer uninsured and underinsured patients to financial assistance.
- Utilize resources and supplies efficiently.
- Proficiently use the computer system to access patient information, email, and other required systems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1+ year of scheduling, administrative support, or clerical experience (healthcare or service operations preferred).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong customer service skills and professional communication (phone, email, and in‑person).
- Minimum 6 months of customer service experience required.
- Knowledge of computers and standard office equipment required.
- Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute required.
- Medical office experience preferred.
