Job summary

PetVet Care Centers is hiring an Experienced Surgery Veterinary Technician (RVT or equivalent) in Matthews, NC. This advanced role focuses on anesthesia monitoring and perioperative patient management, with 3–5+ years of related experience preferred.

A sign-on bonus up to $1,000 is offered based on experience. The position includes 4-day work weeks, on-call coverage, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), CE stipends, and team member discounts.

Qualifications

• RVT preferred or 3–5+ years surgical anesthesia monitoring experience.
• Competency in live surgical anesthesia monitoring (not observational).
• Strong understanding of anesthetic pharmacology and physiology.

Responsibilities

• Full anesthesia management: induction, maintenance, and recovery monitoring.
• Continuous intraoperative anesthesia monitoring and intervention.
• Surgical assisting across elective, emergency, and specialty procedures.
• Advanced patient care including airway management, stabilization, and critical nursing support.
• Venipuncture, IV catheter placement, surgical prep, diagnostics, and lab sampling.
• Patient recovery monitoring, triage support, and discharge communication.
• Accurate and timely medical record documentation.

We are seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or technician with equivalent surgical anesthesia experience to join our Surgery team.

Minimum requirement: 3–5+ years of hands‑on surgical monitoring experience in a high‑acuity environment.

This is an advanced surgery and anesthesia‑focused role. Candidates must already be confident and competent in anesthesia monitoring and perioperative patient management.

What You'll Do

• Full anesthesia management: induction, maintenance, and recovery monitoring

Required Experience (RVT Or Equivalent)

• Demonstrated competency in live surgical anesthesia monitoring (not observational experience)
• Strong understanding of anesthetic pharmacology, physiology, and patient response to anesthesia
• Experience with airway management, intubation, and perioperative support
• Proficient in core technical skills: IV catheter placement, venipuncture, surgical prep, lab work
• Ability to function independently in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity surgical environment

Candidates without direct surgical monitoring experience will not be considered.

Schedule

• 4-day work week
• Rotating shared on‑call coverage required
