Job summary

Animal Eye Care Center, a private veterinary ophthalmology specialty practice in Gaithersburg, MD, is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join a high‑level clinical team. You will engage in complex cases, learn from board-certified ophthalmologists, and contribute to patient care and owner communication with empathy and professionalism.

Qualifications

• CVT/LVT/RVT credential preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Communicate clearly with clients and owners, acting as advocate for patients.
• Care for patients under anesthesia and monitor during procedures.
• Prepare surgical areas and instruments, maintain anesthesia equipment.
• Perform venipuncture, process laboratory samples, and assist diagnostics.

The Role

As a Veterinary Technician at Animal Eye Care Center, you’ll take part in complex, rewarding cases that make a visible difference in the lives of our patients and their owners, while learning from a highly specialized team.

Key Skills & Responsibilities

• Strong Communication: Exceptional client communication skills and professional courtesy. You’re a primary advocate for our patients and a support system for their owners.
• Advanced Anesthesia: Comfortably manage patients of all sizes under anesthesia, including patients on a ventilator.
• Surgical Excellence: Prepare surgical sites, care for surgical instruments, and maintain anesthesia machines.
• Clinical Mastery: Perform venipuncture and prepare laboratory specimens, and learn to conduct specialized ophthalmic diagnostic tests.

About You

• The Specialist Mindset: You have a passion for veterinary ophthalmology and a strong desire to learn from a specialized team.
• The Empathetic Communicator: You build strong relationships with both clients and team members through empathetic communication.
• The Professional: A state credential (CVT, LVT, or RVT) is preferred but not required.
