Registered Veterinary Technician (Part Time) – Aptos Creekside Pet Hospital

Position Overview

Support hospital operations by providing dedicated veterinary care and exceptional service to patients and clients. Responsibilities include patient care, examinations, diagnostic procedures, assistance during surgery, nursing care, feeding, supply management, triage, discharge, and record maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations, reviewing care plans, completing lab tests, and diagnostic imaging.
• Care for patients: take vital signs, collect samples, administer medications, vaccines, and bandages.
• Support examinations and operations by assembling supplies, securing patients, and restraining them as directed by a veterinarian.
• Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, equipment usage, and drug administration.
• Obtain and verify medications.
• Ensure patients have food, water, and maintain cleanliness; observe for clinical signs.
• Fill prescriptions and administer medications with proper documentation, including controlled drugs.
• Maintain a safe environment through sterilization, sanitization, sterile supply storage, and compliance with regulations.
• Maintain medical records, documenting conditions, reactions, and updates.
• Communicate patient status to owners as directed.
• Maintain equipment, troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and request repairs.
• Maintain inventory, place orders, verify receipts.
• Participate in educational opportunities and read professional journals to update job knowledge.
• Release patients to owners after cleaning and grooming.
• Follow oral and written directions.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Manager or practice.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience, surgical/anesthesia experience required.
• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) preferred.
