Registered Veterinary Technician, ICU

Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Department: Intensive Care Unit ICU

Schedule: Full-time. Shifts are designed to provide flexibility and variety, with durations ranging from 10 to 12 hours. The schedule includes a mix of daytime, evening, and overnight shifts, rotating regularly to ensure a balanced workload to accommodate the needs of the team.

Alta Vista Animal Hospital is excited to welcome a dedicated Veterinary Technician (RVT) to our team of skilled veterinary professionals. In this role, you will work alongside and support our board-certified specialists, gaining valuable experience and knowledge in a collaborative environment. While our network is large, we still offer that local community feeling, mentorship, and additional training!

In Fall 2025, we will be expanding to a brand new state-of-the-art Veterinary Centre! Join our team and be part of this exciting growth!

Our ICU team members are the backbone of patient care, ensuring all hospitalized patients receive compassionate and dedicated care during their stay.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Has completed a Veterinary Technician program.
  • Knowledge of surgical preparation, assisting, and patient recovery.
  • Ability to keep detailed and accurate patient records.
  • Provides compassionate care for hospitalized patients and pet parents.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including asking clarifying questions for effective solutions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to work well with colleagues and pet parents.
  • Passion to learn more within the role.
  • A love for all companion animals!

About us: Our Critical Care team cares for patients from ER, GP, and specialty departments. Our board-certified specialists provide care in surgery, cardiology, oncology, critical care, dermatology, internal medicine, and dentistry, with access to MRI, fluoroscopy, and CT diagnostics.
