Animal Medical Center San Rafael is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team in San Rafael, CA. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and loves working with pets.

RVTs with California licensure or those eligible to transfer within 3 months are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include rooming patients, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, radiology, dental procedures, and assisting in surgeries.

Qualifications

• 1+ years clinical experience as a Veterinary Technician.
• Registered Veterinary Technician in California; active license in good standing.
• Or eligible to transfer or become licensed in California within 3 months of hire.
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment.
• Passion for working with animals and their owners.
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories.
• Perform basic exam procedures.
• Venipuncture and IV catheter placement (cephalic, saphenous, jugular).
• Digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning.
• Perform complete dental procedures: digital x-rays, scaling, polishing, charting.
• Dental extractions as licensure allows preferred.
• Comfortable with general anesthesia and surgical assisting.
• Laboratory skills including microscope; IDEXX in-house lab.
• Excellent client communication/education.
• Adaptable to working with doctors and team members.

Responsibilities

• Room and monitor patients, draw blood, and place IV catheters.
• Assist in surgeries and provide anesthesia support as needed.
• Perform radiographs and dental radiography with proper technique.
• Maintain animal handling and restraint to ensure safety and comfort.
• Communicate effectively with clients and veterinary staff.

Job description

Animal Medical Center San Rafael is currently looking to hire a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves pets and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience with rooming patients, drawing blood, placing IV catheters, radiology, assisting in surgeries, and proper animal handling & restraint, and being a positive, inclusive and motivating team member. New RVT Graduates are encouraged to apply!

The hourly pay rate for this position starts at $26.00 - $38.00 per hour, this varies depending on experience, education, certifications, and location.

• Additional $500.00 Sign-on bonus!

Who You Are:

• 1+ years clinical experience as a Veterinary Technician.
• Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California, license must be active and in good standing.

• Skilled in venipuncture and Intravenous (IV) catheter placement (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
• Able to perform digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning
• Perform complete dental procedures, including digital x-rays, scaling, polishing, charting
• Ability to perform dental extractions as allowed by licensure preferred
• Comfortable with general anesthesia and surgical assisting (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique)
• Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); IDEXX in-house laboratory
• Excellent client communication/education
• Adaptable to working well with current doctors and team members
