Willowbend Animal Hospital is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our growing team!

Non-credentialed experienced technicians are highly encouraged to apply!

Compensation:

$18-19/hour

Shift:

Five-day work week, Monday through Friday, no weekends.

Hospital Hours:

Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 6 pm, closed on weekends.

Job Summary:

The Registered Veterinary Technician provides leadership and training to medical support staff in a small animal facility, following hospital policies and procedures, and offers medical care to patients as permitted by law. The technician communicates effectively with team members and clients, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Uphold MVP's Core Values and Mission Statement.
• Guide support staff to ensure smooth shift operations.
• Mentor team members for career and personal development.
• Contribute to employee performance evaluations.
• Provide patient care under DVM supervision.
• Maintain excellent client communication.
• Accurately record medical and client information.
• Review medical records, estimates, and discharge instructions with clients.
• Address basic animal care questions confidently; refer complex questions to veterinarians.

Additional Functions:

• Assist with scheduling, payments, and client check-in.
• Answer phones courteously and informatively.
• Provide feedback on training programs.
• Participate in shadowing or working interviews.
• Engage in training and cleaning duties.
• Perform equipment and clinic upkeep.
• Delegate cleaning duties as needed.
• Identify areas needing attention.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficiency in laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing skills.
• Patience and composure in stressful situations.
• Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and medical crises.
• Ability to give SQ, IM, and IV injections.
• Knowledge of prescription drugs, their dosages, side-effects, and client explanation.
• Understanding of anesthesia and recovery states, and ability to monitor patients.
• Reasoning, memory, mathematics, and language skills.
• Confidence around pets.

Required Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• State licensing required.
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds, with assistance for heavier weights.
• Endurance for extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
• Ability to work in noisy environments and handle pets that may bite or scratch.
• Sufficient hearing, vision, and dexterity to perform duties effectively.

Travel:

Minimal, possibly for vendor visits and education.
