Southpoint Animal Hospital is located in South Durham, NC near Southpoint Mall. Our 5 veterinarians, along with a highly skilled team of nurses, technicians, and client care advocates, have proudly practiced the highest level of medicine while also providing excellent customer care for the last 14 years. We are a primary veterinary care facility that strives to deliver quality wellness and preventive care, progressive medical care, soft-tissue and orthopedic surgery, comprehensive dental procedures, laser therapy and diagnostic ultrasound. Our caring, supportive, loyal staff has a stellar reputation, and it shows with our 4.9 stars on Google reviews and our continuous achievement of Best of Durham and Best of Triangle 11 times. Our beautiful hospital offers 7 exam rooms (1 dedicated to felines), a large treatment area, separate surgical and dental suites, digital whole body and dental radiography, ultrasound and therapeutic cold laser, in-house IDEXX and pharmacy, and a separate glass-walled ICU. We take pride in a work-life balance and this includes being closed on the first Saturday of every month and 6 major holidays as well as no boarding and on-call. Each patient and their parents are treated as individuals with unique needs and desires. The patient's well being, both physical and mental, is our top priority, and we strive to make each visit with us informative, rewarding, and full of happy moments and love - it's just what we do. We are seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our growing team and help ensure we are providing those great experiences. When you join our organization as a Veterinary Technician, you gain access to a peer network of over 5000 individuals, CE allowance, and Learning & Development programs to help you meet your career goals.

Position Skills:

• Professional client communication and education obtaining medical histories and symptoms
• Laboratory procedures including but not limited to: hematology, cytology, urinalysis, microbiology, blood chemistry, and fecals
• Diagnostic imaging and implementing safety protocols of fellow staff members
• Nursing skills including: restraining patients, administering medications PO/IV/SUBQ/IM, applying and maintaining bandages, proficient IV catheter placement and venipuncture, surgery prep, anaesthesia monitoring
• Proficient in dental prophylaxis

Position Requirements:

• Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) or the ability to transfer credentials from state to state.
• Associates degree in Veterinary Technology
