Job summary

Alliance Animal Health in Des Moines, IA is seeking aRegistered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our fast-paced, multi-doctor practice. You will assist with triage, lab work, imaging, anesthesia, and nursing care for medical and surgical cases, while communicating treatment plans to clients.

Active RVT license required; entry-level RVTs welcome. We offer paid time off, health benefits, 401k, and career development opportunities. Some Saturday shifts may be required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Restrain animals safely and triage incoming patients.
• Collect and analyze lab samples and assist with diagnostics.
• Perform diagnostic imaging and radiography positions.
• Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized patients.
• Administer medications and prepare treatment plans.
• Communicate treatment plans clearly to clients and staff.
• Assist with surgical preparation and anesthesia management.

Newton Animal Clinic is a well-established, progressive, fast paced multi-doctor general small animal practices located in Newton, Iowa with a sister clinic in Bondurant, Iowa. We offer many services to provide the best comprehensive care to our patients including Preventative Care, Surgery, Urgent Care, High Speed Dentistry, In-House Diagnostics, Digital full body and dental radiology, Endoscopy and Ultrasonography, Medical and/or Vacation Boarding. Our Hours Of Operation Are

• Mon-Fri: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Sat: Open the First, Third, and Fifth Saturdays of the month from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
• Sun: Closed

Job Description

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

• A Registered Veterinary Technician with an active license required.
  • Entry-level RVTs and new grad technicians are welcome to apply, we are happy to teach and train!
• Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts.
• Availability to work some Saturday morning shifts.
• Excellent client communication and medical record management skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations.
• Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques.
• Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens.
• Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture, with additional skills in dental radiography being a plus.
• Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring.
• Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards.

Additional Information

Pay Range: $19 - $22/hr depending on experience level
