Job summary

Southgate Veterinary Clinic in Bellefontaine, OH seeks a licensed Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate team. You will perform patient restraint, sample collection, diagnostic imaging, and nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases while ensuring clear communication with clients.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of professional experience, strong skills in radiography and anesthesia, and a commitment to continuing education in a fast-paced clinic.

Qualifications

  • Active Ohio veterinary technician license required.
  • Strong client communication and medical record keeping.
  • Knowledge of veterinary procedures, hospital operations and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Restrain pets safely and compassionately.
  • Collect and analyze lab samples and perform diagnostic imaging.
  • Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases.
  • Administer medications and communicate treatment plans to clients.
  • Assist in surgical preparation and anesthesia monitoring.
  • Maintain clean, organized hospital environment.

Southgate Veterinary Clinic

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

We’re Looking For:
  • ARegistered Veterinary Technician with an active license in Ohio required
  • 1+ year professional experience preferred but not required
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
  • Availability to work some Saturdays shifts
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture, with additional skills in dental radiography being a plus
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards
