Job summary

Animal Hospital of Avon is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate team. You will perform restraint, triage, lab analysis, imaging, nursing care, medication administration, and client communication.

Surgical preparation and anesthetic monitoring are also part of the role, with exposure to typical clinical hazards. The ideal candidate has an active RVT license and 1+ year of practice, with strong reliability and weekend availability.

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Veterinary Technician license required.
  • 1+ year professional experience preferred.
  • Punctuality and reliability with scheduled shifts.
  • Availability for some Saturday shifts.
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures and hospital operations.
  • Expertise in safe, low-stress animal restraint techniques.
  • Proficiency in sample collection (blood, urine, fecal, skin).
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and imaging; dental radiography a plus.
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring.
  • Commitment to ethics and continuous learning.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, animal-care setting with hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Restrain animals and triage incoming patients.
  • Collect and analyze lab samples and perform diagnostic imaging.
  • Provide management and nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases.
  • Administer medications and communicate treatment plans to clients.
  • Prepare for and assist in surgery; monitor anesthesia during procedures.

Our hours of operation are:
  • Monday - Friday: 8am - 63pm
  • Saturday: 8 am -12 noon
  • We are closed on Sundays

Job Description
Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications
We're looking for:
  • A Registered Veterinary Technician with an active license required, 1+ year professional experience preferred
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
  • Availability to work some Saturday shifts
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture, with additional skills in dental radiography being a plus
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise and unwavering commitment to animal welfare in a dynamic veterinary setting.

Additional Information

*$1,000 sign-on bonus available to qualified candidates *

Pay Range

$16 - $23/hr. dependent on licensure status and experience
