Job summary

Darlington Vets4Pets is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly team in Darlington. You will perform consults, discharge patients, and support procedures such as blood sampling, radiography, IV placement and post-operative checks.

You will work 40 hours per week with a 1 in 4 Saturday rota (morning shifts 8am–12pm); there are no OOH requirements, and we encourage CPD with funded certificates to support your professional development and wellbeing at work.

Qualifications

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse with solid nursing experience.
  • Strong client communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to admit, monitor anaesthetics, recover and discharge patients.

Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen at our small animal practice in Darlington Vets for Pets for an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and welcoming team.

About Us:

Darlington Vets4Pets is located on the outskirts of Darlington town centre, 1 mile from the train station and under 10 minutes from the A1 which makes is suitable for those commuting from further afield. Darlington is under half an hour from Middlesbrough and an hour from Whitby on the coast for the perfect day off adventure.

Practice owner Leigh has over 30 years’ experience in the Veterinary world as a Veterinary Nurse and she is supported by a team of 4 Vets, 6 additional RVN’s, 2 SVN’s, 6 Receptionists and 1 Practice Manager. Lead Vet Amy has a special interest in ultrasonography, many of our vets and nurses hold additional certificates, and we are willing to support any interests you may bring to our team.

Inside the practice itself, we have 4 consult rooms as well as high quality imaging modalities including dental x-ray. Our practice also benefits from natural lighting and due to the spacious nature of the practice there is also a large colleague area which has been recently refurbished and an outside balcony, which supports our colleague’s wellbeing at work.

About the role:

Our nurses do their own consults and straight forward discharges, along with some other procedures such as blood sampling, radiography, I/V placement, and post op checks.

By joining us you will have the opportunity to use your nursing skills to their full potential, admitting patients, monitoring anaesthetics, recovering, and discharging patients. Assistance from ANAs and an SVN with turning around theatre, patient prep.

To apply you will have good general nursing experience and great customer service skills, be cheerful, down-to-earth and enthusiastic with a genuine interest in animal welfare.

This is a Full Time role working 40 hours per week. You will join our 1 in 4 Saturday rota (mornings only 8am – 12pm), there is no OOH and we are closed on a Sunday and Bank Holidays.
