Salary range: $41.63 - $56.19 hourly. Placement depends on experience, internal equity, and union guidelines according to the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

The Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) performs vascular/neurovascular ultrasounds and adheres to NM standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all commonly applied vascular/neurovascular procedures, including duplex venous ultrasounds of the venous system, valvular competence evaluation, and color duplex examination of upper extremity veins.
  • Perform Doppler ultrasound examinations of upper and lower extremity arteries, including analog waveforms and segmental pressures.
  • Conduct color duplex examinations of extracranial carotid and vertebral arteries, abdominal aorta and branches (mesenteric and renal arteries), and Transcranial Doppler exams.
  • Perform specialized studies such as vein mapping, renal allograft examination, cavernosal duplex studies, dialysis access graft evaluation, and exercise testing.
  • Obtain pertinent medical history, document patient information, prepare preliminary reports, and contact the attending physician for significantly abnormal studies.
  • Maintain room and equipment cleanliness, coordinate communication among referring physicians, department physicians, nursing units, and hospital staff to ensure smooth patient flow, inpatient transportation, scheduling, supply replenishment, equipment repair, and problem solving.
Additional Functions
  • Ensure cleanliness of exam rooms and equipment; clean and stock rooms daily.
  • Coordinate communication to facilitate smooth patient flow and problem solving.
  • Commit to learning new procedures and master them within acceptable timeframes.
  • Assist senior staff when requested.
  • Participate in the quality assurance program; evaluate data, provide reports to the Resource Coordinator, and recommend procedure modifications or action plans.
  • Provide imaging services with optimum quality, productivity, and customer service.
  • Identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications
Required
  • Valid RVT license.
  • CPR/Basic Life Support certification (AHA).
  • Associate’s degree with at least 3 years of experience as a Vascular Technologist, or a Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred
  • 5+ years of experience as a Vascular Technologist.
  • CPR-Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Vascular Technology or a Health Science field.
