Job description

SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, and according to established policies and procedures, performs non-invasive vascular tests to assist physicians in diagnosing disorders of the vascular system. Performs related clerical duties. Reports to the Manager, Cardiovascular Diagnostics. Provides care to adult and geriatric patients.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Associate's degree in Nursing or an allied health science (cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography, or the like) or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required, demonstrating extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and specific vascular anatomy.
  • Must be a Registered Vascular Technologist through the American Society of the Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Advanced knowledge of vascular diseases and the ability to apply this knowledge to determine the appropriateness of tests being requested.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to explain procedures to patients and/or families, obtain medical information, and relay pertinent information to physicians.
  • Knowledge of patient care techniques and methods generally acquired through twelve months of related patient care experience, plus an additional eight months of non-invasive testing experience with vascular testing equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works in a normal patient care environment with no physical discomfort due to temperature, noise, or similar factors. Requires regular walking, standing, and the pushing, lifting, and positioning of patients and equipment. Work includes on-call responsibilities.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, with weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed.
