Job Summary

Performs a variety of technical procedures utilizing diagnostic ultrasound equipment.

Minimum Education

Completion of an accredited Technical Ultrasound Program.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) or Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (S) (ARRT).

Work Experience

6 months related experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to perform basic ultrasound echo and/or peripheral vascular studies. Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Accurately performs a variety of technical procedures efficiently utilizing ultrasonic machinery for the diagnosis of disease. Positions, transfers and immobilizes patients, as necessary to perform diagnostic procedures. Adjusts machinery and ancillary equipment parameters in accordance with prescribed procedures to obtain diagnostic medical/legal ultrasound images. Assists in equipment calibration to maintain department standards. Understands and performs high level probe disinfection. Schedules exams and maintains department records. Assists in quality control programs for the maintenance of prescribed standards. Assists in quality control programs for the maintenance of prescribed standards.
