Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Registered Sonographer to join MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Waldorf, MD. The role focuses on performing ultrasound scans, taking anatomical pictures, and assisting the radiologist with preliminary interpretations.

Exams include abdominal, renal, thyroid, obstetric, vascular, breast, and more, with color Doppler and special procedures. On-call status is required and safety training is emphasized.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program.
• 1-2 years' experience from an acute care hospital.
• RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) or eligible.

Responsibilities

• Performs exams such as abdominal echoes, renal, aorta, thyroid, pelvic, obstetrical, bio-physical profiles, vascular studies, testicular and breasts.
• Color flow studies, Doppler studies, renal biopsies, and fluid collections of localized areas.
• Checks all films with radiologist; consults with the radiologist about reading scans and reports; provides written, unofficial reports.
• Marks image for proper definition; available for on-call status; adheres to safety training.
• Maintains ultrasound rooms and stock; reviews exam requests for ultrasound studies.

Education

Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program

1-2 years' experience from an acute care hospital
