Job summary

DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital in Commerce Township, MI, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join the night shift. You will deliver respiratory therapy across the continuum of care and collaborate with physicians, nurses and the care team to optimize patient outcomes and support the hospital’s cardiopulmonary program.

You will assess patients, evaluate therapy effectiveness, delegate tasks, and mentor students. Required: Michigan license, NBRC RRT, BCLS; ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA/CoARC approved Respiratory Care program; Associate degree or equivalent.
• RRT registration with NBRC required.
• BCLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• License to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy services across the continuum of care.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and care team to optimize care plans.
• Perform patient assessments and evaluate therapy effectiveness.
• Instruct employees and students in respiratory care procedures and supervise during shifts.
• May function as in-charge therapist and preceptor.

Job Summary

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, acts as a professional member of the health care team by providing respiratory therapy services throughout the continuum of care.

Provides therapeutic and rehabilitative procedures and diagnostic tests for patients with, or at risk of, abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system.

Collaborates with physicians, nurses and other members of the health care team to develop optimal cardiopulmonary care plans for patients.

Performs patient assessments, evaluates the appropriateness and effectiveness of therapy, and determines which respiratory care activities can be delegated to other care team members.

Instructs employees and students in the principles and practices of designated respiratory care procedures/tasks and evaluates their competence.

May function as an in-charge therapist and preceptor, as requested.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an AMA/CoARC approved Respiratory Care program. Associates degree in Science, Allied Health or equivalent, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Registration (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• BCLS certification required. ACLS certification preferred.
• Licensure to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan.
