Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Registered Respiratory Therapists deliver both routine and critical care services for the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory dysfunction, including oxygen and aerosol therapy, respiratory care treatments, pulmonary diagnostic procedures, airway management, ventilator management, patient assessment, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. They work independently across all hospital areas and actively participate in planning departmental operations.

Registered Respiratory Therapists practice respiratory therapy under the supervision of a licensed physician. This includes performing cardio-pulmonary evaluations, respiratory therapy treatments, and educating patients, families, and the public. They may supervise respiratory therapy technicians and students, and play a key decision-making role in patient care planning, departmental development, and operational oversight.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduate of an approved Respiratory Program supported by CoARC or CAAHEP accreditation.
  • Credentialed by the NBRC as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • New York State license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or Registry Eligible Certified Respiratory Technician, with licensing within one year of hire.
  • BLS or ACLS certification required; ACLS certification within 12 months of hire; PALS preferred.
  • Credentialed by NBRC as a Certified Pulmonary Technologist preferred.

Additional training/competencies in caring for patients of various ages are expected as applicable.

SIGN ON BONUS / STUDENT LOAN REIMBURSEMENT:

Eligible candidates may receive a $10,000 sign-on bonus, subject to taxes. Up to $10,000 over two years is available for student loan reimbursement with a 2-year commitment. Terms and conditions apply.

RELOCATION:

Eligible candidates will receive a relocation package of up to $9,200. Additional terms and conditions apply.
