Registered Respiratory Therapist

RRT – Respiratory Department

Work hours: PRN (As Needed) Night Shifts

Here’s What You Need
Education
  1. Other Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Care Program required
  2. Other - CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
Experience
  1. NICU and critical care experience strongly preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  1. RCP - Respiratory Care Practitioner upon hire required
  2. RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist upon hire required
  3. BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  4. ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred upon hire
  5. NRP- Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program NRP required if working in the NICU 90 days required
  6. NRPA-Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program NRP required if working in the NICU 90 days required
What You Will Do
Patient Assessment/Plan of Care
  1. Obtains/verifies physician order for therapy and validate for appropriateness.
  2. Reviews available medical records and obtain pertinent medical history from patient or family.
Patient Treatment
  1. Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.
  2. Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license.
Documentation
  1. Documents verification of physician orders prior to delivery of care.
  2. Documents aspects of each treatment session in accordance with departmental, JCAHO, Medicare, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
Professional Accountability
  1. Utilizes available resources (equipment, support personnel, educational resources) to maximize efficiency and productivity and meet departmental needs.
  2. Participates in orientation and training of students and new employees.

Other duties as assigned.
