Job summary

HCA Healthcare’s Doctors Hospital of Augusta is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (PRN) to provide essential respiratory care across care settings. You will perform assessments, deliver therapies, assist with airway management and ventilator support, and respond to emergent situations with a focus on patient safety and outcomes.

Eligible candidates will have RT licensure (RRT/RCP), NBRC CRT or RRT credentials, and a degree (AS or BA).

Qualifications

  • ACLS within 30 days of start date
  • BCLS within 30 days of start date
  • PALS within 60 days of start date
  • Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner licensure required (RRT/RCP)
  • NBRC CRT or NBRC RRT certification required
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree required

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document patient assessments including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies: oxygen delivery, aerosol therapies, chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with artificial airways placement; initiate, monitor and manage mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient response and escalate to provider as needed.
  • Assist with transport of ventilator-dependent patients.
  • Respond to emergent situations ensuring airway and ventilation during resuscitation.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Respiratory Therapist, you’ll play an essential role in guiding patients through both routine care and critical moments. You’ll perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while managing invasive and noninvasive ventilation across a variety of care settings. What you will do in this role:

  • You will perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. You will conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • You will administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • You will assist with placement of artificial airways. You will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • You will monitor patient for therapeutic response. You will notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • You will assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
  • You will respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
  • (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner
  • (NBRC-CRT) Certified Respiratory Therapist, or (NBRC-RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
