Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, NM seeks a compassionate Registered Respiratory Therapist to assess, diagnose and treat patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in improving patient outcomes and quality of life.

The position requires an Associate degree in respiratory therapy, NBRC credentials, NM licensure, and BLS; ACLS/PALS are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in respiratory therapy.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner-NM license.
• BLS certification (and ACLS and/or PALS).
• Six months to one year of experience in critical care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians with bronchoscopy procedures and monitors cardiovascular and pulmonary status; administers IV conscious sedation and reversal agents.
• Initiates ventilator protocols and manages ventilator support.
• Performs advanced airway care including tracheostomy changes, extubation, and intubation; operates high-frequency ventilators.
• Performs NICU therapies such as surfactant delivery and attends high-risk deliveries.

Type of Opportunity: Full time FTE: 0.90 Job Exempt: No Work Shift: 12 Hour Days (United States of America)

Responsibilities:

All Certified Respiratory Therapist responsibilities. Assists physicians with Bronchoscopy Procedures under departmental policy including monitoring and assessment of the level of consciousness, cardiovascular and pulmonary systems; as well as delivery of IV conscious sedation agents to include drugs in the classifications of opioids, benzodiazepines and sedative-hypnotics and their reversal agents. Initiates ventilator protocols; implements and coordinates ventilator management. Performs advanced airway care to include tracheotomy changes, extubating, and intubation. Initiates and monitors high-frequency ventilators. Performs NICU Therapists will also perform: Surfactant delivery, and intubation and attend high-risk deliveries. Optional procedures: transport team, intubation, and backup charge therapist. Initiates and monitors Nitric Oxide delivery. Performs department-specific functions as detailed within the summary of the department-specific duties. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Associate degree in respiratory therapy Reg Resp Therapist (NBRC) Respiratory Care Practitioner-NM BLS ACLS and/or PALS Six months to one year of experience in critical care is preferred.
