Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for Albuquerque, NM. The role involves providing routine and advanced respiratory care, managing ventilators and participating in high-level airway procedures.

Responsibilities include bronchoscopy support, ventilator management, nitric oxide delivery and NICU involvement as needed. This on-site position features a PRN/FTE setup with shift patterns including nights, with a focus on patient safety and advanced clinical skills.

Qualifications

• Two to three years college-level courses or an Associate Degree/Diploma in Respiratory Care.
• New Mexico Respiratory Care Practitioner License and NBRC RT credential required (ACLS/PALS/BLS preferred).
• Critical care experience preferred (6–12 months).

Responsibilities

• Provide routine and advanced respiratory care as assigned.
• Assist physicians with Bronchoscopy procedures under policy and monitor sedation and vitals.
• Initiate and monitor ventilator protocols and management.
• Perform advanced airway care including tracheostomy changes, extubation and intubation.
• Initiate and monitor Nitric Oxide delivery where indicated.
• Support NICU therapists with surfactant delivery and high-risk deliveries as needed.
• Other department-specific duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Work Shift: 12 Hour Nights (United States of America)

Responsibilities:

• All Certified Respiratory Therapist responsibilities.
• Assists physicians with Bronchoscopy Procedures under departmental policy including monitoring and assessment of the level of consciousness, cardiovascular and pulmonary systems; as well as delivery of IV conscious sedation agents to include drugs in the classifications of opiods, benzodiazepines and sedative hypnotics and their reversal agents
• Initiates ventilator protocols; implements and coordinates ventilator management.
• Performs advanced airway care to include tracheotomy changes, extubation and intubation.
• Initiates and monitors high frequency ventilators.
• In NICU Therapists will also perform: Surfactant delivery, intubation and attend high risk deliveries.
• Optional procedures: transport team, intubation, and Back-up charge therapist.
• Initiates and monitors Nitric Oxide delivery
• Performs department specific functions as detailed within the summary of the department specific duties
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Two to three years college level courses/Associates Degree/Diploma in Respiratory Care.
• New Mexico Respiratory Care Practitioner License, Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the NBRC, ACLS and/or PALS , BLS required.
• Six months to one year critical care experience preferred
