Job summary

Valleywise Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive cardiopulmonary services under supervision. The role emphasizes setup, operation, and monitoring of respiratory therapies per physician orders and department policies.

Ideal candidates will have an AMA-approved two-year Respiratory Therapy program, NBRC RRT certification, and Arizona state licensure. BLS/ACLS are required on hire, with PALS within 30 days. Night shift with differential applies.

• Must be registered (RRT) by NBRC and licensed (or temporary license) by the Arizona Board of Respiratory Care Examiners.
• Requires BLS and ACLS, plus PALS within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide cardiopulmonary services per physician orders and department policies.
• Set up, operate, and administer respiratory care procedures including advanced mechanical ventilation techniques.
• Observe and assess patient responses to treatments and adjust care as needed.

Job description

Under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Services Medical Director and Department Director and/or Manager, the Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing cardiopulmonary services in accordance with specific physician’s orders, department policies, and procedures. Must have a wide range of knowledge and skills to set up, operate, and administer all types of respiratory care procedures in diagnosing and treating respiratory disease and illness, and includes extensive competency in the use of advanced mechanical ventilation techniques.

Hourly Pay Rate: $39.00

Pool position - Night Shift

Night Shift differential is paid at 18% of the employee's base rate of pay. Weekend differential is paid at 8% of the employee's base rate of pay.

Qualifications

Education:

• Requiresgraduation from a two (2) year A.M.A. approved Respiratory Therapy Program.

Experience:

• Prefer six (6) months of recent work experience.

Certification/Licensure:

• Must be registered (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and licensed (or temporary license) by the Arizona Board of Respiratory Care Examiners.
• Requires BLS and ACLS through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center upon hire.
• Requires PALS through an approved American Heart Association RQI program within the first 30 days.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
• Knowledge of additional languages is preferred.
• Must have basic computer knowledge.
• Must have the ability to plan, modify, and coordinate respiratory care and treatments.
• Must be able to administer therapeutic agents and treatments, observe patients, and determine the effects of treatments.
