$29.00/hr - $40.00/hr
Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Director of Cardio-Pulmonary Services, provides Respiratory Therapy to patients.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Proof of highest level of education completed but not less than high school education or equivalent as recognized by an approved government accreditation association.
- Graduate from AMA accredited program for Respiratory Therapy.
- Certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist and/or Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Arizona.
- Maintains current CPR Certification from the American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or other approved educational programs.
- Current NRP Certification. New hires are required to obtain certification within 3 months of employment.
- ACLS certification per American Heart Association within three months of hire.
- PALS certification per American Heart Association within three months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- An understanding of computer systems, process design and data management.
- Previous Meditech experience or other related electronic records systems.
- Basic knowledge of system application implementation, enhancement, development and support methods and practices.
Principle Clinical/Technical Duties
- Category: Equipment and Documentation
- Assists in maintaining Arterial Blood Gas Analyzer. Documents actions taken. Performs arterial blood gas draws and analysis.
- Sets up Ventilator/BiPAP and CPAP.
- Maintains records of therapy. Documents therapy on patient’s medical record.
- Does Art-Line Insertions.
Category: Clinical Patient Care- Assess patient’s respiratory status utilizing RR, HR, B/S, X-rays, WOB and ABG results.
- Sets up and monitors oxygen therapy. Consults with the patient’s physician about recommendations for adjustment to oxygen therapy.
- Sets up Small Volume Nebulizer, Large Volume Nebulizer, Incentive Spirometry and monitors patients’ reactions, tolerance and cooperation.
- Implements IPPB therapy.
- Performs percussion and postural drainage.
- Performs airway management, manual resuscitation and documents accordingly.
- Performs Intubations.
- Performs EKG’s.
- Monitors storage areas for supplies, replacing consumed equipment.
- Monitors oxygen equipment on crash cart, wheel chair, and portable tank in emergency.
- Monitor medication dates, obtains necessary medication from pharmacist.
- Responsible for time card recording.
