Job Overview

Under the supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the therapist delivers life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and medical gases therapy to patients. Performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures across Intensive Care and General Practice Units. Maintains clinical expertise across various departments, communicates effectively with patients and staff, documents patient care accurately, supervises and delegates tasks to support staff, and completes billing information.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients, develop care plans, and collaborate with healthcare providers.
• Delegate patient care tasks appropriately and communicate effectively with team members.
• Participate in bedside rounds and maintain high standards of clinical care.
• Proficiency in departmental subspecialties, equipment, and protocols.
• Maintain clinical productivity and stay current with developments in respiratory therapy.
• Perform equipment maintenance, repair, and testing as needed.
• Document patient care in a timely manner and ensure patient safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
• Associate of Science Degree minimum; Bachelor's preferred.
• Recent graduate or at least two years of experience in a tertiary hospital setting.

Licensing and Certifications

• Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Current Michigan Respiratory Therapist License.
• For recent graduates, 90 days to complete registration and licensing requirements.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
