Job summary

Hudson Regional Hospital in Hoboken, NJ is seeking a part-time Respiratory Therapist Registered for night shifts. You will assess, treat, and care for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders, collaborating with physicians and nurses to implement individualized care plans.

Responsibilities include administering therapies, operating ventilators, and educating patients and families. Night shift hours are 7:00 pm to 7:30 am with bi-weekly 48-hour schedule.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current and valid Respiratory Therapist license in New Jersey.
• Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC.
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Demonstrated clinical experience in respiratory care within a hospital or acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Assesses plans, administers, and evaluates patients receiving all respiratory care modalities as ordered by a physician or as delineated by medical center protocols.
• Responsible for the delivery of respiratory care services to the inpatient and emergency room population.
• Evaluate patients' respiratory status and develop appropriate treatment plans based on physician orders and clinical assessments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and participate in clinical rounds and case discussions.
• Provides emergency, critical care, and general care respiratory services to patients of all ages.
• Conducting, performing, and analyzing diagnostic and function tests to assess lung capacity and capability.
• Working with physicians and nurses to create treatment plans.
• Treating patients with aerosol medications and chest physiotherapy.
• Administering inhalants.
• Operating mechanical ventilators and other machines.
• Training patients how to administer treatments and use equipment on their own.
• Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen therapy and chest physiotherapy.
• Monitor and document patient responses to treatments, adjusting care plans as necessary.
• Operate and maintain respiratory care equipment, ensuring devices are functioning safely and effectively.
• Educate patients and their families on respiratory care techniques and home equipment.
• Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies and provide critical care support as needed.
