Qualifications

• Requires an RT degree (associates or bachelors) in respiratory therapy.
• NBRC-RRT, Respiratory Care Practitioner credentials, BLS and ACLS required or preferred.
• 0–2 years of clinical experience, at least 6 months in critical care.
• Strong communication, critical thinking and relationship-building abilities.
• Computer proficiency including database familiarity.

• Manage ventilators, including weaning and waveform interpretation.
• Conduct airway management procedures (intubation and extubation).
• Collect and analyze arterial blood gases.

• Assist with invasive and non-invasive procedures and diagnostics.

Role Overview

The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care in critical settings, including ventilator management, medication administration, and patient assessment. They work independently in complex cases, ensuring safe, quality care while educating patients, families, and new staff. The role involves collaboration with healthcare teams, supporting performance improvement, and adhering to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and develop care plans
• Administer aerosolized medications, oxygen, and medical gases
• Manage ventilators, including weaning and waveform interpretation
• Conduct airway management procedures (intubation, extubation, trach care)
• Collect and analyze arterial blood gases
• Educate patients and mentor healthcare staff and students
• Assist with invasive and non-invasive procedures and pulmonary diagnostics
• Ensure accurate documentation, promote safety, and support quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Skills

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred)
• Certifications: NBRC-RRT, Respiratory Care Practitioner, BLS, ACLS
• 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care
