Job summary

Johnston-Willis Hospital is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist II to join our team. You will assess respiratory status, deliver oxygen and airway clearance therapies, and manage ventilation in emergency, critical care, and acute settings.

You’ll educate patients and collaborate with physicians and nurses to stabilize newborns when needed. Qualifications include NBRC credentials (CRT/RRT), an associate degree or vocational training, and BLS/Neonatal Resuscitation within 30 days of start.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of start date.
• Neonate Resuscitation within 30 days of start date.
• NBRC-CRT or NBRC-RRT or RRT/RCP-State credentials.
• Associate degree or vocational school graduate.

Responsibilities

• Assess respiratory status with focused exams and interpret airway patency.
• Deliver evidence-based therapy: oxygen, aerosols, airway clearance.
• Manage ventilation: assist airway placement, invasive/noninvasive ventilation.
• Educate patients and families and collaborate with clinicians.
• Maintain and safely transport ventilated patients; follow infection control.

Job Summary and Qualifications

• Assessing respiratory status by performing focused exams, interpreting breath sounds and airway patency, anddeterminingthe need for respiratory interventions.
• Deliveringevidence-based therapy by providing oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and other treatments across emergency, critical care, and acute settings.
• Managing ventilation and airways by assistingwith artificial airway placement,initiatingand adjusting invasive and noninvasive ventilation,monitoringpatientresponses, and responding quickly to clinical changes or emergencies.
• Supporting patients and the care team by educating patients and families, serving as a clinical resource, partnering with physicians and nurses, and helping stabilize newborns during deliveries when needed.
• Maintainingequipment and safety by setting up,operating, and cleaning respiratory equipment; ensuring readiness and preventive maintenance; transporting ventilated patients safely; and following all infection-prevention standards.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (NBRC-CRT) Certified Respiratory Therapist, or (NBRC-RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist, or (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner
• Associate Degree, or Vocational School Graduate
