CJW Medical Center in Richmond, VA is hiring a Registered Respiratory Therapist II to assess respiratory status, deliver therapy, and manage ventilation in acute care environments. The role supports patients and families, collaborates with physicians and nurses, and ensures safe equipment operation and infection control.

Requirements include NBRC-CR T/RRT or state credential, an Associate Degree or equivalent, and BLS/Neonatal resuscitation within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Neonate Resuscitation must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• NBRC-CRT or NBRC-RRT or state-credential as Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner.
• Associate Degree or Vocational School Graduate.

Responsibilities

• Assess respiratory status with focused exams and interpret findings.
• Deliver oxygen therapy, aerosolized meds, airway clearance, and related treatments.
• Manage ventilation and airway support across emergency and ICU settings.
• Educate patients and families, collaborate with physicians and nurses.
• Maintain and clean equipment, ensure infection-prevention standards.

Job Summary And Qualifications

• Assessing respiratory status by performing focused exams, interpreting breath sounds and airway patency, and determining the need for respiratory interventions.
• Delivering evidence-based therapy by providing oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and other treatments across emergency, critical care, and acute settings.
• Managing ventilation and airways by assisting with artificial airway placement, initiating and adjusting invasive and noninvasive ventilation, monitoring patient responses, and responding quickly to clinical changes or emergencies.
• Supporting patients and the care team by educating patients and families, serving as a clinical resource, partnering with physicians and nurses, and helping stabilize newborns during deliveries when needed.
• Maintaining equipment and safety by setting up, operating, and cleaning respiratory equipment; ensuring readiness and preventive maintenance; transporting ventilated patients safely; and following all infection-prevention standards.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (NBRC-CRT) Certified Respiratory Therapist, or (NBRC-RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist, or (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner
• Associate Degree, or Vocational School Graduate
